Dagbreek men’s residence uses the Eiffel as a shared symbol for its emblem, publications and choir. A 2026 university booklet dates the first model, made by Koos du Pisani for a float procession, to 1954. Replacements followed in 1958 and 1962, and Fanie and Abie Nel built a new tower in 2004 for the fiftieth anniversary. The site’s history includes several versions rather than one construction date.
