The wooden replica at the Centre Français de Berlin is linked to the departure of French forces from Berlin. A tower gifted in 1994 became a symbol of Franco-German friendship. The old structure was dismantled for safety in 2023; neighbourhood fundraising supported a replacement unveiled on 6 November 2024. Its timber frame preserves a local material interpretation at the centre’s entrance in Wedding.
